Brendan Leon, a junior at San Marino High School, died early this morning in a single-automobile accident near the Rose Bowl just hours after his 17th birthday.

Students erected a makeshift memorial to Brendan on and around a concrete light pole that his car struck at approximately 3:00 a.m. Dozens of friends visited the scene early this afternoon, leaving behind flowers, candles and other keepsakes.
Brendan was a member of the Titans’ Rio Hondo League and CIF champion football team.
